HG IBO #01 Gundam Barbatos

$13.99

The Gundam Barbatos was the perfect choice to kick off the interchangeable, highly collectible HG IBO line! Of Gundam Barbatos’s various forms and configurations, this model builds into the 1st Form or the 4th Form. Barbatos’s 1st form is almost identical to its dormant state, only featuring a new cockpit from a CGS Mobile Worker. The Gundam’s original cockpit was lost and likely destroyed during the Calamity War. Gundam Barbatos receives its 4th Form upgrades after Tekkedan joins with Teiwaz, who would help return Gundam Barbatos to its original Calamity War Era configuration using their vast Mobile Suit data archives. The remaining 5th and 6th Forms are available in the HG IBO #15 Gundam Barbatos 6th Form set, and the Season 2 Lupus and Lupus Rex upgrades are available separately too!

Included alongside Gundam Barbatos for accessories:

  • Mace
  • Longsword
  • 4th Form Replacement Arm
  • 4th Form Shoulder Armor

Articulation
 –

Gundam Barbatos uses the same internal construction as the rest of the HG IBO Gundams, so building Gundam Barbatos will be pretty familiar if you’ve assembled other HG IBO models before. While this may seem like purely cost-cutting, it is in line with the Post-Disaster timeline lore. As the first kit to use the frame, Gundam Barbatos is the benchmark used by many builders to gauge how posable other HG IBO models are. Compared to other recent High Grade releases, the Gundam Barbatos is on par with its swiveling thighs, double-jointed knees, and free-moving shoulder armor.

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes

Since there are no Beam Sabers to be found, the ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos includes a gigantic Mace for blunt force attacks against enemy Mobile Suits. At the tip of the Mace is a deployable spear, which could pierce through a Mobile Suit with ease (this gimmick is not recreated in this High Grade version). For quicker, more precise attacks, Gundam Barbatos also includes a Longsword. This weapon isn’t quite as powerful as the Mace, initially, at least. Before Mikazuki could master the sword, all he could do with it was target gaps in the enemy’s armor. After some time, he managed to cut through a Mobile Suit’s armor and frame in a single strike!

This kit includes:

7 Runners total (A1, A2, B, C, D, E, PC002)
Total Piece Count – 124 with 5 Unused Parts
Foil Stickers
Materials – PS, PE

HG IBO #01 Gundam Barbatos

Tips and Tricks –

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the HG IBO #01 Gundam Barbatos with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. If you’re up to a challenge making panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking DecalsTop Coating before the application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
