HG IBO #21 Gundam Barbatos Lupus

Original price was: $13.99.Current price is: $11.89.

Gundam Barbatos Lupus is the first significant redesign of the Gundam Barbatos created for the second season of Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. This version of Barbatos strays further from the original Calamity War-era configuration of the Mobile Suit to pursue superior close-quarters performance. In this pursuit, Gundam Barbatos Lupus received numerous enhancements to increase its agility and connection to Mikazuki through the Alaya-Vijnana System. The engineers also reworked the Mobile Suit’s loadout, exchanging its handheld rifles for optional forearm-mounted cannons (available in the HG IBA #05 Option Set 5). Mikazuki would make great use of the Gundam Barbatos Lupus until almost destroying the Mobile Suit in his duel with the Mobile Armor Hashmal.

Included alongside the Gundam Barbatos Lupus for accessories:

  • Sword Mace
  • Backpack Arm x2

Articulation
 –

Gundam Barbatos Lupus uses the same internal construction as the rest of the HG IBO Gundams, so building Gundam Barbatos Lupus will be pretty familiar if you’ve assembled other HG IBO models before. While this may seem like purely cost-cutting, it is in line with the Post-Disaster timeline lore. The Gundam Frame includes swiveling thighs and double-jointed knees, providing this model kit with a solid range of motion. Gundam Barbatos Lupus features a pair of waist-mounted thrusters developed from the previous 6th Form of Barbatos. These thrusters will rotate normally and provide a small measure of swivel for a dynamic look. You can also change the position of Gundam Barbatos Lupus’s shoulder armor, meant to increase protection from projectiles while charging towards its target.

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes

This model kit includes the Sword Mace for Barbatos’s primary weapon. This weapon’s design allows Gundam Barbatos Lupus to perform devastating weighted attacks without compromising mobility on the battlefield. This weapon fits snugly in either of the weapon slots on Gundam Barbatos Lupus’s backpack. In the anime, Gundam Barbatos Lupus wields a much more expansive array of weapons, most of which are available in the HG IBA #05 Option Set 5 to customize your Gundam Barbatos Lupus and the rest of your collection of HG IBO models!

This kit includes:

HG IBO #21 Gundam Barbatos Lupus

Tips and Tricks –

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the HG IBO #21 Gundam Barbatos Lupus with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. If you’re up to a challenge making panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking DecalsTop Coating before the application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
