HG IBO #33 Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex

$17.99

The Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex is the final upgrade to Tekkedan’s Gundam Barbatos used in the closing episodes of Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. After Gundam Barbatos Lupus defeated the terrifying Mobile Armor Hashimal, the Gundam would return to Teiwaz’s Saisei for extensive repairs and upgrades. While aboard, Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex received larger, more animalistic extremities to suit Mikazuki’s incredibly aggressive fighting style. Teiwaz engineers also gave Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex the Tail Blade from the defeated Mobile Armor Hashimal, controlled through the Alaya-Vijnana System as if it were a 5th limb. Teiwaz designed every aspect of the Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex to be a weapon, even down to its fingertips!

Included alongside the Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex for accessories:

  • Ultra Large Mace

Articulation
 –

Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex uses the same internal construction as the rest of the HG IBO Gundams, so building Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex will be pretty familiar if you’ve assembled other HG IBO models before. While this may seem like purely cost-cutting, it is in line with the Post-Disaster timeline lore. The Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex deviates from other HG IBO Gundams, so you’ll find a fair share of unneeded frame parts left on the runners. Inside both forearms is a pair of sub-arms to help support Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex’s large weaponry or hold smaller weapons alone. The new backpack features a rotating midsection to provide a more dynamic look for the Tail Blade when posing. Bandai included an optional PVC wire to recreate the deployed Tail Blades appearance from the anime!

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes

Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex’s primary weapon is the Ultra Large Mace, which puts Barbatos’s original mace to shame. Teiwaz designed this weapon with the potential to defeat large battleships, as the designers foresaw their coming battle with Gjallarhorn’s Arianrhod Fleet. The Ultra Large Mace was equally, if not more powerful against Mobile Suits, as it’s shown decimating multiple Graze Units in a single blow! This weapon features a telescoping handle, increasing its reach and possibly confusing the target. Builders can store this weapon on Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex’s back skirt when not in use. Each arm contains a pair of built-in 200mm cannons, but there are no additional ranged accessories for Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex.

5 Runners total (A, B, C, D, PC002)

HG IBO #33 Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex

Tips and Tricks –

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the HG IBO #33 Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. If you’re up to a challenge making panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking DecalsTop Coating before the application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
