The MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Frame is one of five Gundam Astray units assembled in secret by the Orb Union. In their original configuration, the Gundam Astrays were identical, distinguished only by the color of their internal frame (as the name would suggest). Orb engineers utilized data stolen from the Earth Alliance’s G Project, effectively copying their beam technology but unable to recreate the G-Project Gundam’s Phase Shift Armor. Instead, The MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Frame and its sisters utilize much lighter and less restrictive armor, significantly increasing maneuverability and handling compared to the Earth Alliance Units. After a series of events, the Red Frame fell into the hands of Junk Guild member Lowe Guele, who would soon become the Mobile Suit’s pilot.

Articulation –
The HG Gundam Astray Red Frame features an entirely new construction supported by an array of polycaps, as this was the first rendition of this Mobile Suit in the High Grade Gundam SEED Line. This model is quickly approaching 20 years old and, thus, misses out on some modern aspects builders have come to expect from the High Grade line. But, at just over 100 pieces, the HG Gundam Astray Red Frame is an excellent choice for a first-time builder or someone looking for a quick and satisfying build of one of the most iconic Mobile Suits from the Cosmic Era. Bandai provided small sheets of color-correcting and marking stickers to help builders recreate the Mobile Suit’s on-screen appearance right out of the box!
Weapons and Other Notable Attributes –
The HG Gundam Astray Red Frame includes the Type 71 Beam Rifle as its primary weapon. The Type 71 Beam Rifle features a fixed forward grip for added security when firing. The HG Gundam Astray Red Frame also features two Beam Sabers attached to its backpack. This model includes transparent pink beam effects to recreate this equipment’s activation. The HG Gundam Astray Red Frame’s most iconic weapon is the Gerbera Straight, a massive Mobile Suit-sized Katana capable of slicing clean through enemy Mobile Suits. This weapon features a metallic blade for a supreme finish without any paint! Builders can store the Gerbera Straight inside the sheath on the HG Gundam Astray Red Frame’s side skirt armor.
