Bandai’s High Grade rendition is an excellent recreation of the MSN-001A1 Delta Plus’s appearance in the Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn animated series. The MSN-001A1 Delta Plus is a transformable Mobile Suit developed from the failed MSN-001 Delta Gundam design. The MSN-001A1 Delta Plus (in Waverider form) is capable of atmospheric re-entry and in-atmosphere flight thanks to its overwhelming thrust capabilities.

Articulation –

Like many other High Grade transformable model kits, The HGUC MSN-001A1 Delta Plus does not feature a complete transformation. Instead, Bandai opted to include additional parts to replace specific components of the Mobile Suit. Using a partsformation gimmick reduces the number of small and fragile pieces that allow the suit to transform. As a result, both modes are much sturdier and not as complex to build. Builders can expect the MSN-001A1 Delta Plus to have a wide range of motion thanks to the double-jointed limbs and other modern joint structures.

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes –

The MSN-001A1 Delta Plus’s Beam Rifle features a folding handle gimmick, allowing the weapon to be reattached to the Waverider once transformed. Bandai added two Beam Saber Hilts to the Shield to accurately recreate the storage location. The Shield also features two Grenade Launchers and a Beam Cannon. Attach the Shield to the forearm of the MSN-001A1 Delta Plus while in Mobile Suit Form. Like many other Waveriders, the Delta Plus uses its Shield as the nose of the aircraft.

Tips and Tricks –

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the HGUC #115 MSN-001A1 Delta Plus with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. If you’re up to a challenge making panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking Decals. Top Coating before the application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
