The Gundam Ez8 is the protagonist Mobile Suit from the famous Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team animated series. The Gundam Ez8 is the modified version of Shiro Amada’s  RX-79[G] Gundam Ground Type, which he almost destroyed battling the Apsalus II Mobile Armor. The Gundam Ez8 went 15 years without a 1/144 scale release before Bandai gave us this fantastic HGUC Gundam Ez8 model kit! Here’s a little fun fact: There are only two other UC Mobile Suits referred to as “Gundam,” which do not feature a dual-blade antenna!

Articulation –

The Gundam Ez8 has a plethora of well-thought-out articulation points, making it a stellar poser! All four limbs are double-jointed, and two ball joints connect the waist to the midsection of the Gundam. Plenty of thought went into bringing the Gundam Ez8 up to modern HGUC standards, even down to the toes! The prongs on the backpack unfold to support additional equipment packs just like the Gundam Ground Type!

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes –

There are many similarities between the Gundam Ez8’s loadout and the Gundam Ground Type’s. The Gundam Ez8 uses the same 100mm Machine Gun and Beam Rifle as the Ground Type, and the backpack equipment is another borrowed component from the Gundam Ground Type. This model kit includes the parts to build the Parachute Pack Equipment, which attaches to the extended prongs on the backpack. This equipment is compatible with other HGUC 08th MS team model kits, and the Weapon Container from the Ground Gundam should be a direct fit.

Tips and Tricks –

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the HGUC #155 RX-79[G] Ez-8 Gundam Ez8 with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. If you’re up to a challenge making panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking Decals. Top Coating before the application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
