Bandai released the new HGUC MS-06S Char Zaku II to coincide with the 40th Anniversary Celebration of Gunpla, and it’s definitely a kit worth celebrating. The Zaku II design has had no shortage of model kit iterations over the years, but this might be the best version in the 1/144 scale that Bandai offers.

Articulation –

Bandai has almost perfected the HGUC MS-06S Char Zaku II this time around! Anyone who has built one of the older Zaku HG kits will be excited to see just how much Bandai has improved its engineering. You can expect the MS-06S Char Zaku II to pull off just about any pose you’ve seen in the anime, thanks to the number of double-joints and added articulation points. Bandai has even included an alternate set of skirt armor made out of new flexible material. It is recommended to use the traditional plastic skirt armor for painting.

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes –

Not much has changed with the MS-06S Char Zaku II weapons. The Bazooka and Heat Hawk can both be stored on the Mobile Suit when not in use. Thanks to the included Weapon Holding Left Manipulator, the MS-06S Char Zaku II can even use both weapons at once!

Tips and Tricks –

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the HGUC #234 MS-06S Char Zaku II with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. If you’re up to a challenge making panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking Decals. Top Coating before the application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
