The RX-178+FXA-05D Super Gundam is the combination of the RX-178 Gundam Mk-II and the FXA-05D G-Defenser. The AEUG developed this combination to give the Mk-II enough mobility and firepower to deal with the Titan’s transformable Mobile Suits. The RX-178 Gundam Mk-II and FXA-05D G-Defenser build separately and will combine once completed. The molds used for the RX-178 Gundam Mk-II are the same as the HGUC Mk-II Titans version which, was released a few months before the combo set.

Articulation –

The RX-178+FXA-05D Super Gundam was the first time Bandai included a small Support Unit in the box alongside the standard Mobile Suit (the release of the HGUC Dendrobium did come first, but there is absolutely nothing small about that model kit!). The version of the RX-178 Gundam Mk-II included in this set should build up quickly and easily for builders of any skill level. Attaching the FXA-05D G-Defenser to the RX-178 Gundam Mk-II is super easy and only requires a minor transformation and the removal of some parts.

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes –

When combined, the RX-178+FXA-05D Super Gundam can use the FXA-05D G-Defenser’s Long Rifle by unfolding the handle from underneath its cover panel. Bandai still included the original Beam Rifle and Bazooka for the RX-178 Gundam Mk-II for displaying the Gundam and FXA-05D G-Defenser separately. The included Beam Saber Hilts can hold most HG Beam Effect Parts if you don’t feel like painting the Beam Saber Hand that comes with the model (I wouldn’t blame you).

Tips and Tricks –

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the HGUC #35 RX-178+FXA-05D Super Gundam with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. If you’re up to a challenge making panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking Decals. Top Coating before the application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
