HGUC #47 RX-78NT-1 Gundam Alex

$20.99

The RX-78NT-1 Gundam Alex is one of the Earth Federation’s first attempts at building a Mobile Suit for Newtype Use. The intention was to make this suit the personal unit of Amuro Ray, but he never got the chance to pilot the RX-78NT-1 Gundam Alex before the program ended. Despite the discontinuation of the Alex Development program, the Earth Federation uses various aspects of the RX-78NT-1 Gundam Alex’s design to develop new Mobile Suits, like the RGM-79N GM Custom. The RX-78NT-1 Gundam Alex made its first animated appearance in the Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket series and appears in various Gundam Video Games!

Included with the HGUC RX-78NT-1 Gundam Alex for accessories:

  • Type-3 Beam Rifle
  • Beam Saber Hilt x2
  • Unpainted Beam Effect
  • Shield
  • Chobam Armor

Articulation
 –

The construction of the RX-78NT-1 Gundam Alex is standard for HGUC models from this era. The legs use a simple polycap structure to accomplish double-jointed knees. The thighs attach to the hips with a ball joint making the connection nice and sturdy but not as articulate as a more modern swiveling thigh gimmick. There are seven easy steps to attach the Chobam Armor to the Mobile Suit. Equipping the RX-78NT-1 Gundam Alex with its Chobam Armor will likely reduce the posability of the model substantially.

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes

The RX-78NT-1 Gundam Alex’s main gimmick is the Chobam Armor set. Similar to the Full Armor configuration of the RX-78-2 Gundam Revive, The Chobam Armor is an optional set of Luna-Titanium plated armor made for the RX-78NT-1 Gundam Alex, which vastly improved the Mobile Suit’s defensive capabilities at the cost of maneuverability. The Chobam back skirt features six additional thrusters to negate the added weight. The RX-78NT-1 Gundam Alex features forearm mounted 90mm Gatling Guns, so Bandai included an optional Gatling Gun that fits into the forearm, giving the hatch-opening effect. This model kit includes an unpainted Beam Effect but uses hilts compatible with other HGUC Beam Effects, so most builders will want to swap those in as soon as possible.

HGUC #47 RX-78 NT-1 Gundam 0080 Alex

Tips and Tricks –

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the HGUC #47 RX-78 NT-1 Gundam 0080 Alex with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. If you’re up to a challenge making panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking DecalsTop Coating before the application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
