MG ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos

$54.99

Raise your flag! Bandai has finally given the iconic ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos the proper Master Grade treatment! This excellent model kit builds into Barbatos’s fourth form, which is the closest to its original appearance from the Calamity War.

In the Post Disaster timeline, the Gundam Frames are 300-year-old relics of a cataclysmic war between Earth and its Outer Sphere Colonies. These old-fashioned Mobile Suits utilize an invasive, organic interface with their pilots called the Alaya-Vijnana System. This system grants the ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos abilities far superior to standard Mobile Suits, despite a 300 age difference! The ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos was pivotal in Tekkadan’s initial split from CGS and continued to prove its worth as the organization battled its way towards Earth.

Included alongside the ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos for accessories:

  • Long Sword
  • 300mm Smooth-Bore Gun
  • Mace

Articulation
 –

As the first Iron-Blooded Orphans Master Grade, Bandai had to create the ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos from the ground up! The designers pulled no punches when designing the inner frame of this kit. It almost feels like a shame to cover up all the brilliant detailing with the Gundam’s armor! The ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos inner frame features twelve articulated pistons with silver-plated rods. This kit even features exposed heat piping. The larger pipes on the backs of the arms and legs are a separate piece, making detail painting that much easier. The cleanup process for the ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos is easy, thanks to Bandai’s liberal use of undergating technology. All of Barbatos’s armor will be clear of any stress or nub marks right off the runner!

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes

In the Post Disaster timeline, beam weaponry is almost unheard of, so all ranged weapons still fire ballistic rounds. The ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos’s primary ranged weapon is the 300mm Smooth-Bore Gun. The high maneuverability of modern Mobile Suits makes the Bore Gun almost impossible to aim without the assistance of the Alaya-Vijnana System. The shots that do land have the potential to penetrate even Nanolaminate Armor. Since there are no Beam Sabers to be found, the ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos includes a gigantic Mace for blunt force attacks against enemy Mobile Suits. At the tip of the Mace is a deployable spear, which could pierce through a Mobile Suit with ease. As a backup melee weapon, the ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos also equips a Longsword. This weapon isn’t quite as powerful as the Mace, initially, at least. Before Mikazuki could master the weapon, all he could do with it was target gaps in the enemy’s armor. After some time, he managed to cut through a Mobile Suit’s armor and frame in a single strike!

This kit includes:

18 Runners total (A1, A2, B[x2], C1+C2[x2], D1, D2, E, F1, F2, G[x2], H, I1, I2, J1, J2)

Description

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. Making your own panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking DecalsTop Coating before application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
