MG RX-78-02 Gundam The Origin

The RX-78-02 Gundam is the furthest advancement of the Earth Federation’s Operation V initiative to create Mobile Suits powerful enough to defeat the Principality of Zeon’s army of Zaku Mobile Suits. The RX-78-02 Gundam Prototype was precisely the answer the Earth Federation was looking for, as it quickly proved itself technologically superior to the mass-production MS-06 Zaku II. The RX-78-2’s special Luna Titanium Alloy armor made it almost impervious to incoming ballistic fire without weighing down the Mobile Suit. At the time, the RX-78-02 Gundam was one of the most offensively capable Mobile Suits ever built, as its robust powerplant granted the RX-78-02 Gundam access to an array of beam-based weaponry. Before the RX-78-2 Gundam’s creation, beam weapons had only made their way onto the large space battleships of the Earth Federation and Zeon.

Articulation –

The MG RX-78-02 Gundam The Origin borrows a small number of parts from the previously released MG RX-78-2 Gundam Ver. 2.0 but primarily utilizes newly molded parts in its construction. This model features double-jointed limbs and swiveling thighs, providing a wide range of motion to create dynamic poses. There is also a cavity within the MG RX-78-02 Gundam The Origin’s torso where builders can insert an LED Unit Yellow for an easy lighting solution! The MG RX-78-02 Gundam The Origin does not feature a functioning Core Fighter Gimmick.

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes –

The Early Type Beam Rifle included with the MG RX-78-02 Gundam The Origin is one of the earliest examples of a handheld beam weapon manufactured for Federation use. The Middle Type Beam Rifle is a familiar sight in the hands of the Grandaddy Gundam, as this would serve as the Mobile Suit’s primary weapon throughout most of the One Year War. Both weapons can attach to the Mobile Suit’s back skirt or inside the shield for storage. The MG RX-78-02 Gundam The Origin also includes a Hyper Bazooka with a removable ammo cartridge! Builders can also store this equipment on the Mobile Suit’s back skirt.
