MG RX-78-2 Gundam Version 1.5

$37.99

The RX-78-2 Gundam is the furthest advancement of the Earth Federation’s Operation V initiative to create Mobile Suits powerful enough to defeat the Principality of Zeon’s army of Zaku Mobile Suits. The RX-78-2 Gundam Prototype was precisely the answer the Earth Federation was looking for, as it quickly proved itself technologically superior to the mass production MS-06F Zaku II. The RX-78-2’s special Luna Titanium Alloy armor made it almost impervious to incoming ballistic fire without weighing down the Mobile Suit. At the time, the RX-78-2 was one of the most offensively capable Mobile Suits ever built, as its robust powerplant granted the RX-78-2 Gundam access to an array of beam-based weaponry. Before the RX-78-2 Gundam’s creation, beam weapons had only made their way onto the large space battleships of the Earth Federation and Zeon.

Articulation
 –

The MG RX-78-2 Gundam Ver. 1.5 vastly improves the original MG RX-78-2 Gundam’s articulation and posability by providing one of the earliest iterations of pre-molded joint segments, technology that would become the foundation of the Real Grade line a decade later. The MG RX-78-2 Gundam Ver. 1.5 borrows most of its armor panels from the previous iteration, leaving plenty of leftover parts on the runners. This model features double-jointed limbs and swiveling thighs, providing a wide range of motion to create dynamic poses. This model also features a functioning Core Block System gimmick, allowing builders to choose between displaying the included Core Fighter in its transformed state inside the Mobile Suit and displaying it alongside the RX-78-2 Gundam.

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes

The MG RX-78-2 Gundam Ver. 1.5 includes everything you’d expect to find alongside the Granddaddy Gundam and more! This model includes the coveted Gundam Hammer, a gigantic spiked flail capable of crippling enemy Mobile Suits with a single successful strike. Bandai also included the Beam Javelin, the extended version of the Beam Saber that projects three shortened beam blades. Builders can attach the RX-78-2 Gundam’s Hyper Bazooka to the Mobile Suit’s back skirt when not in use.

Description

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the Gundam RX-78-2 Version 1.5 with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. Making your own panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking DecalsTop Coating before application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
