RG Evangelion Production Model 02

The Evangelion Production Model 02 was the first production model Evangelion created by NERV. The Evangelion Production Model 02 was also the first of the Evangelions specifically designed to face off against the constant threat of Angel attacks. The Evangelion Production Model 02 utilizes updated restraining armor and supports the use of additional external equipment during combat. Many aspects of the Evangelion Production Model 02’s design would find their way into later Evangelion models, including the upgraded version of Evangelion Unit 00 seen in Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance. While the unofficial height of the Evangelion Production Model 02 makes it tricky to scale, the RG Evangelion Unit 02 will stand noticeably taller than most 1/144 scale models in your collection. The RG Evangelion Production Model 02 is also rather slender, as the designers based the RG Evangelions on the proportions used in the Rebuild of Evangelion movies. The Rebuild design also provides Evangelion Production Model 02 with an updated color scheme, better suiting the exceptional color separation of the Real Grade line!

Articulation –

The Evangelion Production Model 02 shares its excellent design with the rest of the RG Evangelion lineup. This line provides a stellar recreation of Hideaki Anno’s gigantic mechs, embodying the excitement of Neon Genesis Evangelion with a realistic take on these fantastical designs. Evangelion Production Model 02 will look dynamic in any pose you could imagine, thanks to the placement of articulation points throughout the model. The surplus of articulated sections provides Evangelion Production Model 02 with armor sliding gimmicks in its forearms and legs, showcasing Bandai’s attention to detail.

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes –

Even Evangelion Production Model 02’s Pallet Rifle comes printed in multiple colors, a far cry from the single-color weapon sandwiches of years past. Bandai even created the red markings on the Umbilical Cable using separate pieces! The RG Evangelion 02 includes a variety of hands to hold its weapons and recreate poses from its many on-screen appearances. Builders can insert the included Entry Plug into Evangelion Production Model 02’s nape thanks to a clever gimmick by Bandai. Aside from the standard inclusions, the RG Evangelion Production Model 02 possesses the GB-012 Evangelion Custom Electrical Discharge Portable Ordinance “Thunder Spear” used by Mari against the Tenth Angel. Despite its appearance as a rifle, the Thunder Spear is a powerful melee weapon used to penetrate AT Fields and deliver a powerful electric shock.
